At Ideal Canine, I steer clear of the "one size fits all" approach to training. My commitment is to understand each dog and owner's unique needs, tailoring training plans and protocols specifically to their requirements. I prioritize a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, ensuring that every dog and owner receives personalized attention and guidance aligned with their individual journey.

The dogs of Ideal Canine
TD Guardian K9's Bren NTD ITD
Bren is my Malinois from KNPV lines that I have had for the past 6 years. I raised and trained him from 8 weeks old and he grew up to be my first security patrol dog that I had trained myself. He worked alongside me on work sites ranging from residential to federal work sites. He worked as a Security Patrol Dog for 2 years before I retired him in order to pursue protection sports with him.
In our spare time, we competed in ADBA Top Dog and Bren was the very first Malinois to become an ADBA Top Dog Champion and is still one of very few Canadian dogs holding an ADBA Top Dog Champion title.
For fun, Bren has gotten his Novice and Intermediate trick dog titles.
Bren has trained in the protection sport, PSA, for 3+ years and recently trialed for his PDC in July.
Unfortunately, due to recent injuries, Bren has had to retire from many of the sports that we love participating in together, but that isn't stopping us! Life throws you curveballs sometimes and you just have to pivot. Bren may no longer be able to compete in high intensity sports, but he still enjoys life as my personal protection dog and is dabbling in sports like Rally-O and Nose Work.
Bren also helps me a lot in my sessions with reactive dogs. He is an excellent neutral dog for my reactive dog clients to work around.
If you have ever hired me as your dog trainer, you have Bren to thank! He has been the inspiration behind most of what I do. Bren has always pushed me to be a better handler and a better trainer. He has fueled the fire in me to continue learning so that I can do better by my dogs. Eventually, I got to a point where it just made sense to begin helping other people with their dogs as well.
Bren is a beautiful, passionate and fiery soul with a personality that is larger than life. Bren doesn't half-ass anything - He goes ALL IN.
Baaad Juju vd Montferhoeve
Juju is my 3 year old Malinois that I imported from the Netherlands. She is also from KNPV lines.
When Bren retired from PSA, Juju stepped in to fill the role of my primary competition dog for PSA.
In her filling that role, I have had the opportunity to watch her mature and flourish. She impresses me to no end with her drive to work.
Just when I thought I had this whole training thing figured out, Juju entered the picture and shook up everything that I thought I knew.
Juju has a wild, untamed and independent spirit. She is feisty while maintaining a playfulness that keeps me smiling.
My journey with Juju is just beginning, but I am beyond excited to see where life takes us.
